Santa Clarita Valley SELPA

Child Find Notice - Do You Know A Child With Special Needs?

The Santa Clarita Valley SELPA (SCV SELPA) and its member districts are required to locate, identify, and evaluate all children with disabilities, including children with disabilities attending private schools in the district, youth incarcerated in adult facilities and /or residential/detention facilities, homeless and migrant children and wards of the state. The process of locating, identifying, and evaluating children with disabilities is known as Child Find.

Parents/Guardians who suspect their child has a mental or physical disability are advised to

contact their local school district or SELPA.

Federal and state laws require public schools to provide free and appropriate education for

children with disabilities. Children from birth to 21 years of age may qualify for special education programs in public schools.
